  • Central Market Fruit Stalls

    CENTRAL MARKET

If you want to capture the absolute vibrant essence of island life, bring your camera to the very heart of the central trading hub. The massive, colourful piles of pineapples, bananas, and local vegetables create incredibly striking geometric patterns. The lively expressions of the vendors and the chaotic, energetic movement of the crowd make for world class street photography. The light filtering through the pavilion roof creates highly dramatic shadows across the fresh produce. It is a visually overwhelming and highly rewarding location.

  • Chinatown Archways

    CHINATOWN

The historic Chinatown district has suffered immense damage from riots in recent decades, but the remaining structures are highly evocative. The traditional high porches and distinct Asian architectural remnants provide a stark, slightly haunting visual contrast to the surrounding tropical environment. Capturing the remaining archways and the resilient new businesses popping up amongst the rubble tells a powerful story of survival. It looks exactly like an Asian Wild West, offering gritty and incredibly compelling street photography opportunities. The area is highly textured and visually complex.
