Standing at 252 metres, this is the tallest structure in the country, offering an unparalleled 360 degree view of the sprawling city and the winding Danube. An express elevator whisks you to the observation deck in seconds. On clear days, you can see the distant Alps to the west and the flat plains of Slovakia to the east. The revolving restaurant at the top completes a full rotation every 26 minutes, allowing you to take in the panorama while enjoying a meal.

Perched on a steep crest overlooking the Schönbrunn Palace, this magnificent baroque colonnade was built to serve as a focal point for the imperial gardens. The terrace on top of the structure offers a flawless, symmetrical view of the vast palace grounds with the city centre skyline rising behind it. This viewpoint is situated atop a massive, indestructible World War Two anti aircraft flak tower that now houses a public aquarium. It was from this vantage point that European forces launched their attack to break the Ottoman siege in 1683. You can reach the summit via a scenic bus ride or by hiking through the forested trails. The large terrace offers a perfect spot to watch the sun rise over the distant river.

Affectionately known as 'Steffl' by locals, this towering gothic spire reaches 136 metres into the sky right from the historic centre. There is no elevator, meaning you must climb 343 tight, spiralling steps to reach the watch room. The effort is rewarded with an incredibly intimate view of the cathedral's colourful zigzag roof tiles and the dense, winding streets of the old town below. It is a thrilling, historically immersive perspective.

A slender, utilitarian viewing platform situated deep within the western hills of the Vienna Woods. Built to commemorate the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph, the current structure offers a wildly exposed, 360 degree view above the dense forest canopy. Due to its remote location, it is completely free of tourist crowds and provides a sense of rugged isolation. Climbing the open metal stairs on a windy day is a small adventure in itself.
