  • Colourful Painted Buildings

    NDËRTESAT E NGJYROSURA

The city is internationally famous for its brightly painted apartment blocks, and the ones along Bajram Curri Boulevard are some of the most striking. Huge, bold geometric patterns and vibrant colours cover the otherwise dreary, brutalist concrete facades. It creates an incredibly surreal and highly photogenic urban landscape that pops brilliantly on camera, especially against a bright blue sky. Framing the flowing river in the foreground with these artistic buildings makes for an iconic city shot. It is the absolute perfect place to capture the city's quirky, modern rebirth.

  • Skanderbeg Monument at Sunset

    MONUMENTI I SKËNDERBEUT

The massive bronze equestrian statue of the national hero dominates the immense, wide open central square. Taking a photo here during golden hour is highly recommended, as the setting sun casts a gorgeous, warm glow across the vast paving stones. You can perfectly frame the fierce silhouette of the statue against the modern, colourful high rises in the background. The lack of cars on the pedestrianised plaza allows for clean, wide angle architectural shots. It captures the absolute monumental heart and pride of the country.

  • Cloud Pavilion

    REJA

This stunning, highly modern art installation sits perfectly on the lawn in front of the National Art Gallery. Designed by Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto, it looks exactly like a giant, delicate, semi transparent cloud made entirely of white steel bars. You can actually step inside the structure, creating incredible, highly complex geometric framing for your portraits. It looks particularly magical at night when it is lit up from within, glowing softly against the dark sky. It is a brilliant, interactive piece of modern architecture that guarantees a unique photo.

  • Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard at Night

    BULEVARDI DËSHMORËT E KOMBIT

This grand, exceptionally wide boulevard was designed to impress, and it truly comes alive after the sun goes down. The long lines of trees and the imposing government ministries are beautifully illuminated with warm, dramatic lighting. Setting up a camera here allows you to capture stunning light trails from the passing cars stretching down the long, straight road. The glowing facade of the Polytechnic University at the far end creates a perfect, symmetrical vanishing point. It highlights the city's grandiose, heavily planned architectural history.

  • Murat Toptani Street

    SHËTITORJA MURAT TOPTANI

This shaded, pedestrian only promenade offers a remarkably serene and highly romantic atmosphere right in the busy centre. The pathway is lined with massive, leafy trees, historic stone walls from the old castle, and charming outdoor cafes. The dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy during the day creates incredibly soft, flattering light for portraits. It looks exceptionally beautiful in the autumn when the leaves change colour, or in winter when the trees are wrapped in fairy lights. It is the perfect spot for capturing the slow, relaxed cafe culture of the locals.
